The urinary system
passes water with the blood through a filtration process so the body can
maintain a clean supply of fluids. The kidneys regulate the amount
of water, acids and salts in the body and ensure that the body doesn't
poison itself. Responsible for maintaining the proper
sodium-potassium balance, the kidneys are designed to save sodium and
excrete potassium. We can't change the way our kidneys function but
we can change our diet. We should eat plenty of fresh foods with
natural potassium and less processed foods (with added sodium).
